Tired of Fear? What If This Is the Year You Finally Say “I Can”?

Tired of Fear what if this is the year you finally say I can

Tired of Fear? What If This Is the Year You Finally Say “I Can”?

Can we be honest for a minute?

This week between Christmas and New Year is different than any other week of the year. Everything slows down, but the feelings don’t. The decorations are still up, work hasn’t fully restarted, and yet the stress you hoped would disappear… didn’t.

Maybe conversations feel shorter lately.
Maybe small things turn into bigger arguments than they should.
Maybe you and your husband are both tired, but it’s coming out sideways.

And somewhere underneath all of it, there’s this low hum of fear.

Fear about money.
Fear about your health.
Fear that you’re messing things up.
Fear that keeps whispering, “I can’t.”

If that’s you, you’re not failing. You’re human.

And you’re definitely not alone.

Fear Is Loud… But It’s Not Always Honest

When Fear Starts Running the Conversation (In Your Head and at Home)

Fear has opinions.
A lot of them.

It loves to narrate worst-case scenarios while you’re brushing your teeth.
It likes to pop up right when you’re finally calm.
It has a way of making everything feel urgent and overwhelming.

The tricky thing is this: fear sounds convincing, but it’s not great with the truth.

One quote I came across recently stopped me in my tracks:

“Fear is born of Satan, and if we would only take time to think a moment we would see that everything Satan says is founded upon a falsehood.”

Fear is born of Satan and everything Satan says is founded upon a falsehood

Fear thrives on half-truths, exaggerations, and old wounds it knows exactly how to poke.

And yet… most of us don’t need a lecture about that.
We just need a little lightness. A little hope. A reminder that fear doesn’t get to call all the shots.

A Softer Way to Think About Faith (Especially When You’re Tired)

Here’s another line I love, mostly because it’s short and simple:

“Meet your fears with faith.”

Not crush your fears.
Not eliminate them.
Just… meet them.

Sometimes faith isn’t a big, bold declaration.
Sometimes it’s quiet.
Sometimes it’s shaky.
Sometimes it sounds like, “I’m scared… but I’m not walking away.”

Another thought that feels comforting (not pressuring):

“A perfect faith would lift us absolutely above fear.”

Notice it says perfect faith.
Which means the rest of us are still learning, and that’s okay.

When Fear Shows Up, I Come Back to This

When fear gets loud for me, I don’t argue with it. I don’t shame myself for feeling it. I go back to a few verses that feel like deep breaths.

“Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you.
Yes, I will help you.”
Isaiah 41:10

That one doesn’t demand anything from me.
It just reminds me I’m not doing life alone.

And this one feels refreshingly honest:

“When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.”
Psalm 56:3

Psalm 56-3 when I am afraid I will put my trust in you

Not if I’m afraid.
When.

Fear isn’t a failure of faith. It’s often the place where trust begins.

Let’s Talk About the New Year (Without the Pressure)

You’re probably seeing a thousand posts right now about resolutions, discipline, and reinvention.

Let’s do something different.

What if this year isn’t about fixing everything?

What if it’s about noticing when fear is driving… and gently asking it to move over?

What if, instead of saying I can’t (like a reflex), you paused and tried I can, even if your voice shakes?

What if God has been calling… but fear has been too noisy to hear Him clearly?

What if you took just a few quiet minutes, no phone, no agenda, and let the noise settle?

Sometimes faith grows best in silence, not striving.

You Don’t Have to Fix Everything.  Just Don’t Let Fear Decide

A Softer Way Forward

What If This Is the Year You Stop Saying “I Can’t”?

You don’t have to conquer all your fears this year.
You don’t have to have a five-year plan by January 1.
You don’t even have to feel particularly confident.

You just have to be willing to believe that fear doesn’t get the final word.

Because with the power of God within us, we don’t have to fear everything around us—even when life feels uncertain.

So if Christmas was hard…
If fear has been heavy…
If “I can’t” has been playing on repeat…

Maybe this is the year you gently, quietly begin to say:

“I can.”

And maybe, just maybe, that’s enough to start. 💛
