You Don’t Have to Have it All Figured Out: Why Faith is Greater Than Certainty

You Don’t Have to Have it All Figured Out: Why Faith is Greater Than Certainty

Let’s be honest:
There’s a lot of pressure on us as women right now — especially for those of us in our late 20s and early 30s trying to balance faith, marriage, work, friendships, and figuring out who we really are in the world.

We look around and think everyone else has it together — the career, the house, the curated faith life, the certainty about what’s next.
And it leaves us wondering:

  • Shouldn’t I know what I’m doing by now?
  • Am I behind?
  • What’s wrong with me that I’m still questioning my path?

These are exhausting questions.
And worse, they’re unnecessary.

Here’s the truth I want to offer you today, friend:
God isn’t asking you to have it all figured out.
He’s asking you to trust Him while you don’t.
Faith is greater than certainty.
Faith is Greater than Certainty

Recent studies show that anxiety and uncertainty are at an all-time high among millennial and Gen Z women.

According to a 2024 report from The American Psychological Association, 68% of women ages 25-35 report daily feelings of overwhelm rooted in uncertainty about their future.

That’s nearly 7 in 10 of us carrying silent fears about whether we’re doing life “right.”
But here’s the bigger problem:
We often try to solve uncertainty with more control , more planning, more overthinking, more comparing.

What if the peace we’re looking for doesn’t come from figuring it all out?

What if it comes from finally releasing the pressure to know everything and learning to trust that faith will carry us further than certainty ever could?

Faith is believing God’s promises are true even when your circumstances feel shaky.

Certainty is about having all the answers. Faith is about trusting the One who does.

In other words:
Certainty wants to control the outcome.
Faith is willing to follow without a map.

Why does this matter for you?
Because choosing faith frees you from the lie that says you’re failing if you don’t have everything figured out by now.

And when you let go of needing certainty, you’ll start to experience the peace God promised. (Philippians 4:6-7)

Let’s redefine success:
It’s not about how quickly you achieve your goals. It’s about how deeply you trust God while you wait.

This is where mindset renewal comes in — catching those thoughts that say, “I’m behind,” and replacing them with truth:

“God’s plans for me are unfolding, even when I can’t see them yet.”

Without this first step, you’ll keep running yourself ragged trying to create certainty out of thin air.
The key is surrendering your timeline to God’s sovereignty.

A Small Step You Can Take Today:
Write out Philippians 1:6 somewhere you’ll see it daily:

“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.”

Here’s the thing:
You don’t “arrive” at faith. You cultivate it in the everyday moments where you choose trust over control.

If you’re feeling uncertain about your next steps in life, marriage, career, or faith, this is not the time to spiral then it’s the time to pray, reflect, and ask God for guidance.

The Power of Prayer is foundational here. Not performance-prayer. Not perfect-prayer.

My Prayer Jouranl

What Can You Do?
Start small. 5 minutes a day. Write your prayers. Reflect on what God’s showing you.
Little by little, trust grows.
Peace follows.

Most of us have been conditioned to think arrival equals happiness:
“When I get married… land the job… buy the house… THEN I’ll feel secure.”

But scripture teaches us something richer:
The journey of walking with God IS the reward.

This is why leaning into the process of becoming who God says you are matters more than racing toward a picture-perfect life.  Besides – you don’t believe you can grow your hair long overnight, why would you think you could change your thinking overnight?  And why would you?  Then you’d miss the fun and anticipation of it all!

The Faith Process Looks Like This:

  1. Recognize your uncertainty isn’t failure. It’s growth in disguise.
  2. Surrender the need for immediate answers.
  3. Trust God’s timing as He shapes you through the waiting.

There you have it:
The 3 components for trading your anxiety for assurance — even when you don’t have it all figured out.

1️⃣ Renew Your Mindset: Release the timeline.
2️⃣ Cultivate Rhythms of Prayer: Build trust, even on shaky days.
3️⃣ Embrace the Process: Faith isn’t arrival; it’s daily surrender.

It may sound like a lot, but it starts with something simple.
One prayer. One journal entry. One surrendered thought at a time.
